The One with the Sephora VIB Sale Haul {November 2017}

Now that all of my VIB sale orders from Sephora have trickled in, I can finally post my haul! Most of my haul I picked up in person on the first day of the sale. My local Sephora was not busy at all and I was shocked! Everything I wanted to buy was in stock and I didn’t have to fight crowds and lines!

Shortly before the sale began, I posted my VIB Sale Wishlist. I thought it would be fun to find out if I stuck to my list or if I strayed!

*All prices in CAD.

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette + Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

Let’s start with eyeshadow palettes! I’ve mentioned before that I don’t buy eyeshadow palettes very often because I don’t use eyeshadow enough to warrant me spending so much money on them. And because I think they are one of the most beautiful makeup items, it takes a lot of willpower to resist!

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette

Was it on my list? Yes!

One palette I knew without a doubt I could not resist was the Desert Dusk palette. I have been lusting over it since we got hit with the teaser photos! Then of course, after seeing all the swatches and looks people created with it, I knew I had to have it. To me, it’s just so unique and beautiful!

I’m such a beginner when it comes to eyeshadow that I feel like I may struggle with this palette but hopefully I can look up some tutorials that will help me out!

Retail value: $85
Cost after 20% discount: $68

Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

Was it on my list? No!

The second eyeshadow palette I bought was the mauve Obsessions palette! I totally strayed from my plan on this one! It was a complete and utter impulse buy but to be fair, when I made my list, I didn’t even know about this palette’s release! I think it may have even been released during the sale? Correct me if I’m wrong.

All four of the Obsessions palettes are gorgeous but of course I was most drawn to the pinks, reds and browns of the mauve palette.

Let’s address the elephant in the room. Is it tiny? Absolutely. Should that be reason to complain? No! Here’s why. First of all, the palette is only $35 so I don’t see how people thought it wasn’t going to be small.

Secondly, have you seen the pan sizes?! The palette itself may be compact but the pan sizes are actually full size! They are 1.3 g each which is the same size as my Urban Decay Naked Heat palette! It’s a perfect travel size palette. To be honest, I prefer smaller palettes anyway because I don’t have much space for storage.

Retail value: $35
Cost after 20% discount: $28

Since it was my birthday month, I picked up my birthday gift while in store. I chose the Tarte set which includes one mini Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in “paaarty” and one mini Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in “birthday suit.” My sister ended up giving me her birthday gift, the Caudalie set, shortly after so I actually got both birthday gifts this year!

Tarte Limited-Edition Blush Bazaar Amazonian Clay Blush Palette

Was it on my list? Yes!

As a blush lover and someone who surprisingly didn’t already own that much blush, I wanted to treat myself to this blush palette. It also contains 2 highlighters, which I also don’t own a lot of. I’m happy I did end up buying it because it’s out of stock on the Canadian website now!

I already have pictures and swatches of this palette ready to go for you guys, I just have to find the time to get the post written! I’ve tested two of the blushes on my cheeks so far and I’m loving them! I also tested two of the highlighters and I find one better than the other.

Retail value: $57
Cost after 20% discount: $45.60

Sephora Favourites Lash Stash Mascara Wardrobe

Was it on my list? Yes!

This went out of stock on the Canadian website the day before the sale started. I was pretty bummed out by that! It was actually the reason I decided to go in store to do my shopping instead of entirely online. I had to see if they had it in stock, which as you can see, they did!

I also own the mascara set that Shoppers Drug Mart put out so I am probably set on mascara for a year. XD But knowing me, I’ll get through it in no time. There’s so many in here that I’ve either never tried and have been wanting to and a couple ones I already know I enjoy. Plus I find the addition of the Huda Beauty “Samantha” lashes a big selling point.

I have my pictures taken already for an unboxing – just have to find the time to write the post! 😉

Retail value: $58
Cost after 20% discount: $46.40

Drunk Elephant Volume 1: Hot Date + Ole Henriksen Ole’s Dream Team Travel Set

Let’s check out the skincare I bought. I tried focusing on buying myself makeup for the sale because I already own so much skincare but let’s be real. I’m a skincare addict and there’s no way I wasn’t buying some discounted skincare!

Drunk Elephant Volume 1: Hot Date

Was it on my list? Yes!

never would have bought this if my boyfriend hadn’t given me a substantial chunk of change towards my haul. But since it was a birthday gift, I decided to treat myself on a few splurgeable items and this was one of them!

I own a small sample size of the T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum but I actually didn’t try it first before buying this set. I totally went in blind which is not like me at all! I have tried the Lala Retro Whipped Cream though. But considering the Framboos serum is the main draw (it’s full size), this is a risk for me. I am hoping it’s as amazing as everyone says it is and my skin loves it!

The set also contains their Beste Jelly Cleanser and Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil which I’ve also heard great things about.

Retail value: $120
Cost after 20% discount: $96

No longer available at Sephora Canada or US.

Ole Henriksen Ole’s Dream Team Travel Set

Was it on my list? Yes!

I had my eye on this set for a long time! It was already discounted in the sale section of the website so I was hoping I would get lucky and be able to get an additional 20% off. The Invigorating Night Transformation Gel has been on my wishlist to try for awhile and I’ve already used the Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil with good results.

Each of these bottles are 1 oz each (30 ml). To buy the same size oil separately would cost me $56 and the night gel works out to $34.80 for 30 ml. That means I paid only $47.20 for $90.80 worth of product! You know I always love a good deal!

Retail value: $59 (regular price was $69)
Cost after 20% discount: $47.20

Sephora Collection PRO Airbrush Concealer Brush #57 + Ole Henriksen Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser

Sephora Collection PRO Airbrush Concealer Brush #57

Was it on my list? Yes!

I almost didn’t buy this concealer brush! I picked it up online during one of the last days of the sale. Since I’ve been wanting it forever, I decided to just go for it and honestly, I am sooooo happy I did! I’ve been using it ever since and yes, it’s as amazing as I heard it was. It blends perfectly. The right tool really does make a difference when it comes to concealer!

Retail value: $30
Cost after 20% discount: $24

Of course, what would shopping at Sephora be without freebies?! Since I shopped in store, I received a free tote bag with my purchase. You can’t really see it in the picture but honestly, it’s ugly anyway, so that’s ok. XD

I redeemed 250 points for the “Wake up to makeup” catch all tray. It is super cute and better quality than I expected! I also redeemed 100 points for the Ole Henriksen Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser. I haven’t tried it before but I have been wanting to try that line since I have oily skin and I noticed it was a 1 oz bottle which is large for a points item.

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette + Murad Clarifying Cleanser

There were a couple items I purchased that I didn’t photograph originally because I ordered them online and it took forever for Sephora to ship them out. I was getting impatient and ended up taking photos before receiving these so this photo was taken quickly today to add to this post.

Murad Clarifying Cleanser

Was it on my list? No!

This was a last minute decision on the very last day of the sale! I just ran out of my small size of this so I checked my stash for another acne fighting cleanser and only had 2 options (of deluxe sample sizes). So I figured it was actually a logical decision to purchase it now during the sale instead of in 2 months at full price.

I was not expecting the size of this tube to be so huge! It’s 200 ml and I think I’m just so used to most Sephora items being on the small size! XD It will last me forever! The teeny tiny tube of it lasted forever, as is!

Retail value: $36
Cost after 20% discount: $28.80

Check it out here!

I also ordered another one of the Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palettes! I ordered the “warm brown” but it’s not for me – it’s for you! I have another giveaway planned and I wanted to include one of these palettes. I actually did a poll on Instagram. I asked between the 4 palettes, which one would you want? The overwhelming response was “mauve” but unfortunately it was out of stock on the last day of the sale (which is when I ordered this). So I chose the second highest vote getter, which really wasn’t that far behind anyway!

Conclusion

So how did I do? Do you think I stuck to my list well enough? Let’s see – I ended up buying 6 out of 9 items on my list! But I also ordered 3 items not on my list (one impulse, one practical, one for a giveaway). They were a lot cheaper than the leftover products on my wishlist, though. XD

Now for the moment that even I have been waiting for. What’s my damage?? In total, this haul cost $412 before taxes. Yes, I’m cringing. My boyfriend paid for half because thankfully my birthday fell at the same time as the sale. I spent about $200 more than I did at last year’s sale (haul here).

After this haul, I’ve put myself on a no-buy, or maybe I should call it a low-buy! I have a shopping addiction so especially with all these Black Friday sales going on, it’s been tough resisting. So far, I’ve done pretty well! I’ve only done one $30 Forever 21 order thus far. Please give me strength!! XD

I would love to know what you guys picked up from the sale!

  2. Wow, that’s quite a haul! I am practicing self control, since I really don’t need anything (or almost anything). I only ordered the Chloe Morello x Ciate Beauty Haul set. I don’t need another eyeshadow palette, but needed a little treat 😀

Can’t wait to see read your reviews of these products!

  3. You’re so lucky your orders came in! My first order was cancelled after 7 days of waiting for it to ship due to my items being “out of stock,” they weren’t out of stock though. I had to redo my order and I placed it on he 14th and won’t get it till about the 28th! Sephora was so bad with their online stuff this year!
I love your haul though! You got some awesome stuff!!

    1. I heard about them cancelling some orders! Honestly I was getting worried about a few of mine because I noticed some things I ordered actually did go out of stock so I thought they were going to cancel it. Their shipping this year is ridiculous. I don’t remember it being like this last year!

      1. Same! When I checked online, none of my stuff was out of stock. I was so mad. Because I ordered during the Rouge part and it got cancelled, so I only got a couple things which I was kinda upset about. I don’t know why it was so crazy this year!

  5. Awesome haul! You did a pretty good job at sticking to your wish list! I realized while doing my shopping that there were a few things I needed that wasn’t on my list – whoops!
I’m finding the Black Friday sales so overwhelming lol. Especially considering they started at various times throughout the week instead of on Friday 😛

  7. This was a great haul! Love how you included the prices/discounts (I’m so bad about that). After this and some Blavk Friday hauls, I’m also on a no-buy.

  8. One thing I’m a bit iffy about also are eyeshadow palettes, ad don’t use them that often. When I do I only for 2-3 shades, and create a quick, natural look. That Mauve palette is so pretty, and I do prefer when their smaller, as they use up less space. Unfortunately as far as I’m aware VIB Sale are only in the US and CA :/ But I did spend a lot yesterday on clothes, so I’m definitely putting myself on a no-buy for clothing. For beauty products I’m just putting myself on a low-buy 😀

    1. That’s too bad they don’t have the VIB sale anywhere else! Usually I buy a bunch of clothes on these big sale days too! But I didn’t end up doing any Black Friday shopping!

  9. Daaanng what a great haul! You did a good job of sticking to your list, and even though the mini Huda palette wasn’t on your list it’s so cute that how could you not buy it!?
That’s so sweet of your boyfriend to help out with your purchase. We all need to treat ourselves once in a while ❤

    1. The mauve palette will tide you over until you are able to get the Desert Dusk! I stopped buying for myself after this sale, too. Need to worry about Xmas shopping first!
