I was so happy to receive my BirchBox earlier than I expected this month. December was a nightmare. I thought I would never get it! BirchBox costs $14.95 a month – yes, in Canadian dollars! It includes makeup, skincare and hair care!
This month’s box is so pretty, and came with some inspirational stickers, which I plan on turning into magnets! I think my box is decent. I find I receive pretty similar items on a monthly basis, so there isn’t much excitement factor at this point. So, let’s take a look.
Let’s just start by saying the design on this bottle is awful. It’s not eye catching at all. I’m sure they could have come up with something better than that. This is a leave-in conditioner that provides colour protection, strengthens and repairs hair, and detangles. It’s something I could use, but the smell is not pretty. It is a 100% vegan product, which is nice.
Now why does this stuff look familiar? Oh, because I just reviewed it after I received a huge tub of it in my FabFitFun box! 😛 I am super impressed with this cream. While I would have liked to have received an item new to me (which is why I did not choose this as my choice this month, but got it anyway!), I will put this to good use. My hands are super dry this winter, and the second I put this on, they feel so much better. It’s so thick and moisturizing. The smell is wonderful, and it’s a vegetarian product.
I think everyone received this in the colour red. I’m not happy with all the reds I’ve been getting from my subscription boxes. However, this is a lip stain and you can control just how vibrant the colour is. There are a couple things I don’t like about it, though. I have a hard time getting an even application, and my lips end up looking splotchy. The smell is so fruity and delicious, you’ll want to eat it!
Hairspray is the one thing I wish I would never receive from subscription boxes. There are very few that have a smell that is appealing to me. This one isn’t too bad, smell wise. It’s a good travel size container, too. It’s supposed to boost body and texture.
I really like sheet masks. This one says it soothes stressed skin, improves complexion, tightens pores, and reduces appearance of fine lines. Hmmm, I quite like the sound of that! 😉 I try to do a mask once a week, so this shall come in handy.
My overall thoughts on this month’s box are not the greatest. The hair products weren’t a hit for me, and I’m kind of 50/50 on the lip tint. So, I will give it a 2.5 out of 5. I’m going to try and redo my survey and see if that helps the selection of products I get.
See you soon, xoxo
